Viking Warfare and Weapons
The Vikings were fearsome warriors. The Viking men always kept their weapons close at hand. All Viking men carried a weapon and at night time hung it close to their bed so at any moment they would be ready to fight in order to defend their honour. Women and children didn't carry weapons in general, however, they did carry knives for farm work.
The Vikings had various weapons such as swords, shields, axes and more. Have a look at the slide show of photos below (click play) and click here to read more about them.

The Vikings wore protective clothing when going to war. They wore helmets made from either iron or leather. Some important chieftains wore a chain mail coat, but most relied on their shields to protect them from harm.
